His passion is to discover business ideas and designs that make brands more desirable. His expertise is transforming these ideas into engaging brand impact, combining intelligence and aesthetics. He takes pride in crafting innovative concepts incorporating the disciplines of graphic design, illustration, art and film direction.
Van Nunen made his name developing many award winning ideas for Amsterdam based clients. He was Creative Director at TBWA, KesselsKramer, Y&R and UbachsWisbrun/JWT before starting creative agency THEY where he was Founding Partner/Executive Creative Director. THEY won International small agency of the year Award in 2009.
Since his move to Sydney in 2010 he has created award winning designs and campaigns for iconic Australian brands; James Boags Draught, Toyota Australia, James Boags Premium, Virgin Mobile, Qantas, James Squire, Hahn Superdry, Canon Australia, Australian Museum, Hahn Superdry, Margaret River Region and the University Of Newcastle.
He won 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 13 Bronze AWARD pencils for 'Men like us like rum' for Bundaberg Rum. He was part of Leo Burnett Sydney's team making the agency 7th most creative company in the world and advertising agency of the year in 2014.
Before unkl he was consulting Creative Director/Design Director at Special Group Sydney, helping them become Adnews Emerging Agency of the year, Mumbrella Emerging Agency of the year, B&T Emerging Agency of the year and B&T Branding and design agency of the year.
His work is recognised globally at all the major shows; D&AD, Cannes Lions, One show and New York Festivals.
